Most foodies have heard by now that the popular cooking website Epicurious will discontinue publishing beef recipes over concerns about climate change. Some food writers have commended the decision, but we here at AppleEats will continue to keep politics out of our posts.

This is not to diminish climate change or its ramifications to our planet if it goes unchecked. As a food blog, we have been committed to bringing information on plant-based alternatives to proteins to our readers’ attention as a perusal of this page will testify.

At the same time, we intend to write what we believe our readers — fellow food lovers — expect to find when they stop by. To that end, no good topic is off-limits, including meat. If your interests include learning about the best bargain burger in the city, then we are here to point you in the right direction.

What’s more is that the final chapter on the dangers to the planet of beef consumption has yet to be written. According to the Wall Street Journal, raising beef is actually good for the planet — that despite environmentalists’ concerns, cattle don’t guzzle water or cause hunger and can even help fight climate change.
