Considering the popularity of Don Angie, which has remained one of the toughest reservations to snag in New York since its 2017 debut, it comes as no surprise that the latest offering by the team has already been relegated to bot hell on RESY.
San Sabino, as the newcomer is called, opens tonight, and the emphasis is on seafood, in sometimes improbable combinations (a calling card of the team). A crab and mortadella dip is a case in point. Smoked chili crab, yellow chive, and tobiko are stuffed into farfalle pasta. Don Angie wouldn’t be Don Angie if they didn’t turn out a parm. Here it is done with shrimp and sauced with a sweet and sour arrabiata.
If you are lucky enough to score a table, you won’t have any trouble finding the restaurant. It’s right next store to Don Angie on Greenwich Avenue.
San Sabino, 113 Greenwich Avenue, 212-970-8808.
