You’ve heard of food supposedly tasty enough to die for? Apparently, the food at Popeye’s, the fast food chicken chain, falls into that category.

According to Fox 5 in Washington, D.C., the incident occurred Monday night after one customer cut in line in front of another, leading to an altercation, which escalated and spilled outside.

The fight began over the chain’s vaunted chicken sandwich, which went on sale after popular demand last Sunday. The headline of a CNN article announcing the return of the beloved menu item indicated that “people are losing their minds” over the sandwich. Their lives, too, evidently.

A spokeswoman for the Prince George’s County (Md.) police department is quoted by Fox News as having said of the fatal encounter:

We have been able to determine, preliminarily, that this is related to the release of the sandwich here at this restaurant… [T]his individual was in line specifically for the sale of the sandwich when another customer and he got into an altercation and that ended with the victim being stabbed outside of the business.
