The Broadway musical “Wicked” is celebrating 20 years of captivating audiences. In recognition of the musical’s long run, as well as the approach of the witching season, the Plaza Hotel’s Palm Court will be serving a “Defying Gravi-Tea” afternoon tea through Oct. 31. (The name derives from a hit tune from the show.)
Guests can choose from a selection of more than two dozen teas as they nibble on savory delectables, such as the “It’s Foie ‘Gaaaa’ Macaron,” which features foie mousse, truffle kewpie mayo, and caviar, and sweet ones: Consider “Glinda’s Tart” with its core of rose lychee raspberry confit and gilding of rose mascarpone chantilly. There are also finger sandwiches and scones.
The basic Signature Wicked Tea runs $134 a person. The Grand Imperial Wicked Tea, which adds caviar and champagne to the menu and serves two, will set you back $599.
Afternoon tea is served daily, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reserve online or by phoning The Plaza at 212-546-5300.
