Let Them Eat Pie: Deals Around Town for National Pi Day

Today is National Pi Day.

No, that’s not a misspelling but a reflection, rather of the date — 3.14 — which you remember from high school math is the value of the Greek symbol “pi.”

To commemorate the day, a number of New York restaurants, bakeries, and retailers are offering pi-centric deals. The Kips Bay gastropub Handcrafted Kitchen & Cocktails (367 Third Avenue, 212-689-3000) is offering a free slice of pi (make that pie) with the purchase of any main course.

Spend $20 on one of the excellent pies at Petee’s Pie Company on the Lower East Side (61 Delancey Street, 646-494-3630) and receive a free pi cookie (isn’t that an oxymoron?). A similar deal is available at Little Pie Company (424 W. 43 Street 212-736-4780) where a free sugar cookie with the pi symbol is yours for the purchase of a large pie, which includes Grandma’s chicken potpie.

Branches of Boston Market (see here for locations) in the city will provide with a free rotisserie chicken pot pie with the purchase of any other meal and drink. A Pi Day coupon must be presented at the time of purchase.

Whole Foods Markets (see here for locations) are offering large bakery pies purchased in-store for $3.14 off. The variety of pie may vary by location.
