For years, Food Network star Guy Fieri has referred to himself as the “Mayor of Flavortown.” Now the honorarium has become official.

According to Delish, the City Council of Ferndale, Calif., where Fieri was born bestowed on the 56-year-old host of “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives” the title of honorary mayor.

Earlier this week, the council also announced plans to celebrate its local celeb by so honoring him and passed a proclamation designating Apr. 5 Guy Fieri Day.

“What a great honor,” Fieri told the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce in response. “I was so surprised to be all the way in New York City and receive the news about Guy Fieri Day. I am proud and feel that Ferndale is with me everywhere I go.”
