Big New Yorker Pizza Bagel (Image: Pizza Hut x Yeastie Boys)

It’s hard to know whether Pizza Hut was setting its sights on rival KFC, which came out last month with the Chizza — a mashup of fried chicken and pizza — but the chain’s latest is a collaborative effort with L.A.-based bagel chain Yeastie Boys. Styled the Big New Yorker Pizza Bagel, the offering will go on sale in New York City for a limited run beginning March 22.

According to trade publication Restaurant Business, Pizza Hut’s Chief Food Innovation Officer Rachel Antalek salutes the Big New Yorkers Pizza Bagel as “a bold celebration of New York’s culinary spirit.” Maybe someone should tell her about the pizza bagel that devoured Cleveland sold by Utopia Bagels in Queens. As I noted last year around this time, the humongous invention weighs 20 pounds and feeds at least ten.
