If you thought Jean Georges Vongerichten was sitting on his laurels following his ambitious restoration of the Tin Building down at the Seaport, think again. As I reported in March of 2022, the tireless chef/entrepreneur was in talks with the developers of the spanking new 670,000-square-foot office tower at 425 Park Avenue over the ground floor retail space. Apparently the talks bore fruit because Vongerichten is sending out word that his newest restaurant — Four Twenty Five — is slated to open in October.

According to the building’s website, the restaurant space is intended to dazzle, boasting “a cocktail lounge and bar downstairs [with] 45-foot high ceilings,” among its other attributes. The menu will feature French, American and Italian dishes with Asian flourishes.
