On Friday, Sept. 8, the threequel of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” opens in movie theaters across the city. To help fans of the Portokalos family celebrate their latest nuptials, local restaurants and bars will be offering free Greek wedding-themed goodies on the 7th.
If you live in Bay Ridge, start your day with a complimentary frappé coffee at Greek Bakaliko Gourmet Food Market (7615 Fifth Avenue).
At lunchtime, Souvlaki GR‘s West 56th Street location will dispense free chicken, pork or veggie souvlakis, and all locations of the chain will give away portokalopita, a traditional Greek cake drizzled with orange syrup and redolent of cinnamon.
When dinnertime rolls around, head over to Kyma in the Flatiron District (15 West 18th Street) to claim the reservation you had the foresight to make. Mention the film, and receive a $40 gift card.
For dessert, stop by Pi Bakerie at 512 Broome Street or 35 Cedar Street for a complimentary bag of Greek wedding cookies.
Conclude the day’s celebration of all things fat and Greek and married with a themed “My Big Fat Greek Tangerine Spritz” cocktail at 9 Jones at 9 Jones Street in the Village.
