If you’re the doting human parent of a canine, and/or if you’re beginning to have it up to here with collab culture, this post is for you.
The pitch it addresses is for a collab(!) between two products that to my way of thinking makes at least as much as if not more sense than a ranch dressing-scented lip balm.
The spot opens with footage of a sensuous woman in a flowing evening gown strolling the grounds of what appears to be a Roman palazzo. As she walks toward a fountain that — nota bene — is decorated with sculptures of dogs spouting streams of water, the voiceover informs us that the ad is “introducing a collab like no other collab that has collabbed before.”
The woman takes a couple of spritzes from a perfume atomizer labeled “Milk-Bone x Jif.” Suddenly she looks vexed. Unexpectedly she dashes the bottle against a wall and produces the real collab: Milk-Bone x Jif.
As the woman inhales deeply from a bag labeled “Milk-Bone Soft and Chewy Peanut Buttery Bites,” the stone dogs begin to fissure and crumble revealing real pooches inside. As the ad draws to a close, the dogs romp as the woman, now smiling, throws them treats from the bag.
By the way, for those who might have concerns, be aware that no dogs were hurt in the making of this ad.
