Now that the debate has ended and congestion pricing in the city is a reality, one New York restaurant is looking to take some of the sting out of its location in the dreaded Congestion Relief Zone (i.e., local streets and avenues south of 60th Street in Manhattan).
This coming Friday, Jan. 10, Fresco by Scotto is offering to take $9, the cost of the toll, off the dinner bill of customers who arrive by car and order an appetizer and entrée.
Let’s hope that other restaurants implement similar goodwill gestures. Let’s also hope the city opens its eyes to a source of untapped revenue and begins cracking down in earnest on fare beaters, especially on Select buses, which make it easy to cheat.
