Today, Aug. 26, is National Dog Die, and Krispy Kreme is giving your pooch something to smile about. The donut chain is baking up handmade donut-shaped dog biscuits. The “Pup’kin Spice” flavor goodies will be available through Aug. 31 at participating locations across the U.S. while supplies last.

Inspired by the chain’s popular Pumpkin Spice doughnut collection that launched earlier this month, the new Doggie Doughnuts come in four flavors — Pup’kin Spice Original Glazed, Pup’kin Spice Cake, Pup’kin Spice Maple Peanut, and Pup’kin Spice Cheesecake Swirl. The treats will be packaged in a special six-count box.

Says Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme, “Dogs add so much to our lives, so … we’ve upped our game for you to give them the awesome treat they deserve.”

The biscuits, which are handmade by Huds and Toke, an Australia-based artisan baked pet treat company, are said to be safe and dog-friendly.

If for some reason, you want to give Krispy Kreme some free advertising and you think your pooch looks good in a bandana, you can accessorize Fido by picking up a limited-edition Krispy Kreme green or white bandana covered in a pattern of dogs, bones and donuts.
