Wilde 75

Last year around this time, breakup Valentines were all the rage. Pizza Hut marked the occasion with a “good-bye” pie, and Insomnia Cookies sold assortments of its baked goods sporting vindictive sentiments such as “It’s not me — it’s you!”

This year, the bakers are back to Valentine’s Day business as usual, but at least one restaurant — Clinton Hill’s Emily Brooklyn — is embracing the fact that sometimes the best part of a relationship is when it’s over. And since it always helps to talk it out, Emily is inviting you to come and tell your best breakup stories!

Starting Thursday, Feb. 13, and running through Sunday, Feb. 16, all diners will be given a postcard to share their most heartfelt tales of the one that got away (anonymous, please!), which will be displayed in the restaurant’s foyer.

All who share will receive:

  • a complimentary Wilde 75 cocktail made with Wilde Irish gin (made in Ireland by the country’s first female master distiller and inspired by poet Oscar Wilde (mocktails also available);
  • a signed copy of Emily BK co-founder Emily Hyland’s recently published poetry collection, “Divorced Business Partners: A Love Story,” loosely based on her and her husband’s (now ex) success as business partners while their marriage was coming apart. (They still happily run the restaurant together!)
  • a heartbreak cupcake by cake designer Alex LaRosa.

Note: The offer is tendered to customers who dine at Emily BK. One complimentary cocktail is offered per age 21+ guest, while supplies last.
