Waitress Fired After Adding Her Own Blood to Cocktails

Bottoms up!

We’ve all heard tales of vengeful demented restaurant employees spitting in food they were about to serve to police officers or other customers from walks of life they disapproved of. In one extreme example, a grocery clerk pled guilty to handing out samples of yogurt laced with his own semen.

But this latest incident takes tampering to a whole new — and frankly disturbing — level. A waitress at the Mondaiji Con Cafe Daku in Sapporo, Japan, was fired after management discovered she was mixing her own blood into customers’ cocktails.

According to the Daily Mail, the lounge, whose name translates loosely — and perhaps fittingly — to “Problem Child Concept Café,” issued an apology for the woman’s actions, promising to replace all the glassware.

But that may not be enough to put the matter to rest. A doctor has warned that “drinking the blood of other people is an extremely dangerous act” and urges anyone who visited the café to see his doctor and take a blood test, adding, “Cases of people getting infected from drinking another person’s blood are rare, but major diseases can be transmitted through blood, including HIV, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and syphilis. ‘If there are wounds in the mouth, it is easy to be infected by blood transmissions.”

I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the waitress is facing criminal charges for her actions.

In the meantime, I think I’ll take a break from ordering Bloody Mary’s.
