Nathan's Famous (Inage: Wikipedia)

In April, AppleEats reported that Nathan’s Famous in Coney Island commemorated its reopening post-pandemic by offering its vaunted hot dog for a nickel — the price of a frank when the restaurant first opened its doors in 1916. The sandwich today goes typically for $4.75.

Today it’s déjà-vu all over again … almost. To celebrate National Hot Dog Day (which is today) Nathan’s is offering a tasting twofer. Buy one of its excellent hot dogs, and your second is a nickel. The offer is good at participating locations.

Most of 7-Eleven‘s umpteen stores throughout the city are offering their Quarter-Pound Big Bite all-beef hot dog for just $1. It’s not Nathan’s, but it’s not bad. The deal is in force through the end of the month.
