Sept. 18 Is National Cheeseburger Day, and Deals Abound

If you followed us last year on National Cheeseburger Day, you’ll see a number of repeaters this year, starting with the Golden Arches.

This year, Mickey D’s is a day late and a dollar short. Which is to say, the fast food chain has slashed the price on its double cheeseburgers to 50 cents. That’s all well and good, except that National Double Cheeseburger Day, which was on Wednesday, already came and went. But why look a gift horse in the mouth? By the way, to qualify, you have to be a McDonald’s app user.

Applebee’s is repeating its NCD offer from last year but for a dollar more. Chalk it up to inflation? Anyway, if you’re game you can order the handcrafted burger of your choice, fries, and a 30-ounce soft drink for $9.99. Orders must be placed via the Applebee’s website or mobile app.

Wendy’s is celebrating National Cheeseburger Day not only with cheeseburgers but with a special deal on fries. For a week-long, cheeseburgers will be sold on a buy-one-get-one-free basis via the Wendy’s app. The chain will also be offering its new “Hot & Crispy Fries” recipe for a buck for any size order through the end of September. The deal is available through Wendy’s mobile app.

You won’t find Smashburger in Manhattan, but you will find it in the boroughs. On Saturday, the chain is offering its “Double Classic Burger,” regularly sold for $7.89, for $5. (Don’t say they never gave you anything.)

STK Steakhouse, which has branched out all over the country since its startup in New York’s Meatpacking District in 2006 as “STK Steak,” is offering its vaunted STK Wagyu Burger & Fries at all its locations for National Cheeseburger Day. Good only on takeout and delivery orders. By the way, the combo will sell for $7.99 except for New York, where the price will be bumped up to $9.99. There’s gratitude for the city that put you on the map.
