Christmas is in the air. You inhale it every time walk through a fir-scented canyon of trees that line the sidewalks as the holiday approaches. And you can taste it at the end of a hectic day of shopping by tucking into a holiday-themed cocktail.
There are any number of places that add festive — and festively named — concoctions to their drink menus this time of year, but none captures the spirit of the season more than Bell Book & Candle on 10th Street.
Have you been naughty this year? Then you should atone by ordering a blend of mint-infused vodka, lemon, coconut, and charcoal (yes, charcoal), but ask for it by name: “Coal for Christmas.” A cocktail called “Scrooged” brings together rosemary-infused Bourbon, black barrel rum, Christmas spice, and a dash of bitters. Feeling amorous? If not, an “Under the Mistletoe” — Bombay dry gin, lemon, raspberry, and egg white — should help you make the necessary attitude adjustment.
