Already known for sake and spirits, Japan is leading the next wave in winemaking as well with sought-after wines that are now finally becoming available in the U.S. This coming week, pioneering Japanese winemakers Ryuta Takahashi — founder of the highly regarded Domaine Tetta — and Hiroyuki Arai and Head Winemaker Toyoichiro Shibata of Coco Farm & Winery will be in New York for a series of tastings, bar takeovers, and dinners.

The event will provide a rare opportunity for New Yorkers to sample some of the best Japanese wines in the market right now, with the added bonus that a fair percentage of the tastings will be held in wine stores around the city and hence free.

A schedule of the events (with some yet to be announced) follows. For more information and announcements of upcoming events, see @diwine_ny.
