You’ve got to give Van Leeuwen credit. Whenever they release a new outlandish ice cream flavor — be it ranch dressing, mac and cheese, or pizza — they deliver what’s promised. So when a popular brand of FroYo announces the arrival of a squid ink variant of their product, you, the consumer, have every right to expect just that.
Only, 16 Handles‘s squid ink frozen yogurt contains no squid ink. The flavor of the jet-black yogurt is matcha. So why do they bother to advertise the limited-edition flavor as “perfect for those who dare to taste something as daring as it looks”? For shame.
As long as we’re on the subject of 16 Handles’s ersatz squid ink froyo, if you do buy a cup, you qualify for a chance to win $500 cash. Rules are here. (I advise checking the bills to make sure they’re not counterfeit.)
