If you’re a fan of pro football, you probably know that the food at pro stadiums has come a long way since the days of prefab burgers and warm soda. At Heinz Field, home of my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers (here we go, Steelers!), the culinary pièce de résistance is the fabled Primanti Brothers sandwich, piled high not only with the meat of your choice (choose beef, turkey, pork, or all three) but with coleslaw and fries. It’s a three-napkin affair minimum.
Across the league in Chicago, meantime, the fan favorite is the Midway Monster, which combines corned beef with a hot dog, bacon, and onions enveloped in a fresh baguette bun — a meal made for Mike Ditka — whereas Carolina Panther devotés delight in their barbecue pulled pork nachos.
