Krispy Kreme wants to be America’s kindly old granny. Whenever life deals you lemons, Granny Krispy Kreme is there to cheer you up with a batch of her cookies, or in her case donuts. Last year on Tax Day, the donuts were free. (This year, they are merely marked down, but — hey! — grandmother has a corporation to run.)

Right now, with gasoline prices approaching record highs, Granny is back with more of her signature donuts and a feel-good message:

We know everyone could use a little doughnut deflation to sweeten the recent pain at the pump. So for the next four Wednesdays, we are helping you fill your tank with Original Glazed ® Dozens by pricing them at the cost of the national average of 1 gallon of regular gas.

This does represent a savings. Yesterday for example, the national gas average was $4.11. per gallon. And that was the amount Krispy Kreme charged for a dozen doughnuts, which are normally priced at $10.79.

If you’re a devotee of Krispy Kreme, you can check back at the website or on social media to see the adjusted price.

Kit Kat Blueberry Muffin Bars

Break me off a piece of that blueberry muffin … bar. Those are the words Hershey, which licenses the manufacture of Kit Kat candy in the U.S. hopes to hear.

The confection, which will reach stores across the country this month, will be available only while supplies last.

“This new, limited-edition Kit Kat bar captures all the best qualities of the fan-favorite baked good with notes of fresh and cooked blueberries, a cake batter-like muffin flavor, and graham cookie pieces folded into the bar,” the company said in an announcement last week, adding:

This new bar features delightful blueberry muffin-flavored creme wrapped around iconic Kit Kat crispy wafers and perfectly mirrors the experience of biting into a fresh blueberry muffin, straight out of the oven!
