Hold the mustard, and bring on the shmear. Coming off his painful loss in a wings-eating contest in Buffalo in September, champion eater Joey Chestnut is turning his attention toward another non-hot dog food item. According to ABC Las Vegas affiliate KTNV, his next mountain to conquer will be made of bagels.
Michael Crandall, chief business officer of Siegel’s Bagelmania, a Las Vegas concern that is sponsoring the event, is quoted as saying, “Last year’s debut was a hit but get ready for an epic sequel. We are thrilled to welcome Joey Chestnut and his fellow competitors to battle for the world title and $10,000 in prize money. We welcome the public to join us for this fun, unforgettable event and enjoy the best bagels in Las Vegas.”
This year’s competition is scheduled to take place Saturday, Jan. 13, at Siegel’s Bagelmania, located at 252 Convention Center Drive in Las Vegas. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees will receive a free commemorative t-shirt, while supplies last.
