We  all know the comfort of a toasty grilled cheese sandwich accompanied by a bowl of steaming-hot tomato soup — a combination that goes down especially well on a cold rainy day.

Campbell’s, whose iconic tomato soup is the brand chosen most often for the liquid part of this duo, has been thinking outside the box. The company has announced the rollout of a soup flavor that eliminates the middle man. Introducing Campbell’s Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup. According to the soup maker, the limited-edition potion offers the “cheesy notes of a grilled cheese combined with Campbell’s Tomato Soup in each and every spoonful.”

If you want to amp up the cheese flavor, you use milk in the preparation of the condensed product. If you want a more robust tomato taste, you use water.

The soup will be hitting the shelves on Apr. 12, which is National Grilled Cheese Day, but if you want a sneak preview, fill out the form at the bottom of this page, and you will be entered in a drawing to win two cans of the product.

By the way, to our tastes, the score to beat when it comes to choosing a store-bought tomato soup to go with a grilled cheese is Progresso Creamy Tomato with Basil. And if you’re looking for a variation on this childhood classic that has been elevated to an art form, head over to Park Ave Kitchen by David Burke and order a crock of his soul-satisfying “tomato soup au gratin,” blanketed with fragrant Gruyère.

Just saying.
