S'moagie (Image: Gold Belly)

For a limited time, Alidoro, the veteran SoHo Italian sandwich shop with five satellite locations in New York, is offering its a reimagined version of the s’more in which the campfire dessert is elevated (diminished?) to a full-blown sandwich. Its name, s’moagie, is a portmanteau based on s’more and hoagie.

The sandwich, which was unveiled yesterday in observation of National Sandwich Day, was conceived in conjunction with Jet-Puffed marshmallows. It begins with a hoagie roll that has been infused with graham cracker grahams and glazed with brown sugar. Next comes a layer of toasted Jet-Puffed marshmallows, then a dark chocolate and sea salt spread, and finally crispy prosciutto. It sounds to me like a waste of good prosciutto, but I will reserve judgment till I have one.
