Cacio e pepe. Peanut butter. Condensed milk and wasabi. These will be but three of the 35 occasionally unorthodox sauce preparations that will furnish a backdrop for mussels at Mollusca, a global seafood restaurant with Italian influences scheduled to open in the Meatpacking District on Wednesday, Apr. 20. The kitchen will be helmed by Gianmaria Sapia, who also owns and operates Da Nicola in Savona, Italy.

The chef’s and restaurant’s Italian side will also be represented on the menu by a selection of pasta and risotto sections. The seafood theme will be reinforced by non-mussel seafood main courses in additional to raw bar offerings, including ceviche, crudo, and hand rolls.
