It seems as though every food has its day, so why not America’s favorite cookie, the Oreo?
To celebrate the occasion, which is today, March 6, Nabisco is giving away one million free Oreo candy bars.
For you food history buffs, Oreos were first produced in 1912 at a Chelsea Market bakery in Manhattan. Since that time, more than 500 billion of the cookies have been sold.
If you’re wondering why they’re not giving away their signature cookies, you’re not alone. In any case, the answer is simple. The candy bar is a new item, and they are looking to promote it.
