No more “Mussels à la Vodka,” plump bivalves knee-deep in a sauce distilled from lobster bisque. And no more “Duck Frites,” medium-rare slices of the bird in a creamy green peppercorn sauce. These and other delights that sometimes drew crowds from outside the neighborhood were highlights of the menu of Little Frog, whose owner and Le Cirque alum François Latapie announced will be closing.
Chalk up another casualty to the pandemic, which last month claimed Forlini’s, a Little Italy pioneer that had occupied the same Baxter Street storefront since 1956.
The good news for Little Frog aficionados is that Latapie has resolved to reopen his classic bistro at another location. For what it’s worth, the restaurant appears open for the time being, though I’d reserve just to be sure.
