Judging from the speed at which his restaurant empire is exploding, it’s only a matter of time before Israeli chef and restaurateur Mike Solmonov takes over the guest rooms of The Hoxton in Williamsburg.
His New York flagship, Laser Wolf, opened on the hotel’s rooftop in January of 2022. Later the same year, Solmonov opened K’Far, Hebrew for “village,” downstairs in the hotel’s lobby, where it dispenses a wide range of offerings from breakfast pastries (it opens at 8 a.m.) to whole meals.
Now comes word of his latest enterprise. It’s name is Jaffa Cocktail and Raw Bar, and it will occupy space on the hotel’s second floor. The bar, which draws its inspiration from the Israeli coast, will be seafood-centric, featuring a raw bar and several novel items such as brisket kebab-stuffed squid accompanied by an harissa tehina and an octopus shakshuka. Summery frozen cocktails, including the Oy Vey (rum, mango, coconut) and The Jaffa Orange (vodka, Aperol, orange), will also be available.
Laser Wolf, 97 Wythe Avenue, Brooklyn.
