It was the favorite deli of the late Anthony Bourdain, who declared that the pastrami served at Pastrami Queen was “the real deal.” One can only wonder what Bourdain would think of the deli’s newest addition to its menu: plant-based pastrami.

Starting this past Wednesday, the Pastrami Queen in Moynihan Food Hall began serving a vegan alternative from Chunk Foods known as “the Prince powered by Chunk.”

Eric Newman, a manager at the restaurant, is quoted by VegOut magazine as saying, “[W]e pride ourselves on offering the best of traditional Jewish deli cuisine. Partnering with Chunk Foods allows us to expand our menu with a delicious plant-based option that maintains the high standards our customers expect.”

Note that the vegan pastrami is available only at Pastrami Queen’s Moynihan Food Hall location (Eighth Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets). The cost of a sandwich is $18.50.
