On March 17, New Yorkers in all five boroughs will raise a glass to St. Patrick, the man who supposedly rid Ireland of snakes in the fifth century A.D. For those who’d like to include the kiddies in this year’s toast, health and nutrition specialist GNC has shared a recipe for a refreshing and somewhat nutritious “cocktail” known as the “Fresh Mint Shamrock Smoothie.” The beverage even sneaks in some spinach, along with mint leaves, to lend the drink its characteristic green color.

Fresh Mint Shamrock Smoothie

1/4 cup sugar
1 cup ice
1 cup skim milk
1/2 medium banana, frozen
Handful baby spinach leaves
30-40 mint leaves
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of kosher salt

Combine all of the ingredients in a blender. Blend on the highest setting until your shake is nice and creamy. Garnish with a mint leaf and enjoy immediately.
