A bar that serves better than 100 whiskeys with a focus on bourbon and rye conjures up images of two-fisted drinkers with a long thirst and no aversion to trouble. Blessedly, Peck Slip Social, which opened recently at the Seaport, is nothing like that description. There is an unusually large complement of whiskeys, but their volume is a reflection of co-owners Alex Davis and Learan Kahanov’s shared passion for the hard stuff. Cocktails riff on the classics, with each named for a friend or family member of one of the owners.
The “MediterAsian” menu is a collaboration between Chef Taylor Miller (Perry Street, Tin Building by Jean Georges, Ichiran) and Kahanov, and brings together flavors and influences of the cuisines that reflect the team’s heritage and worldly travels. Selections include lamb lumpia with wasabi-honey mustard, a mushroom shawarma, and Korean fried schnitzel.
A 24-foot bar bifurcates the space, with one side of the room set up for play with a pool table, sofa seating, board games, and more, while the other side is home to a small stage outfitted with a 200-year-old standup piano. Music is a big part of the Peck Slip Social experience: The bar will host weekly jazz nights with singer/songwriters.
