For some people, it’s a coveted annual sporting event, like the Kentucky Derby or the World Series. For others, it’s an act of unparalleled gluttony.

Regardless of how you look at it, the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest is set to take place once again today at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island, Brooklyn. Reigning champion Joey Chestnut, who has won the event 15 times, will vie for another Mustard Belt today at noon. Last year he ate 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Here’s a short clip of the action.

BetMGM has Chestnut as a -5000 favorite to repeat again today, and Caesars Sportsbook lists him at -3000.

If you plan to watch today’s contest, the best place to do it is from the comfort of your home. I can tell you from firsthand experience that the area around Nathan’s will be a madhouse today, not to mention a haven for pickpockets. If you ask me, the best place to watch is on ESPN2, which will carry a live stream of the event.

Happy July 4, everyone!
