Tonight, Iowans will be able not only to cast a ballot for the candidate of their choice in the Iowa Caucus. They will have the chance to devour that candidate — or at least ingest a food item inspired by him or her.
Zombie Burger, a Des Moines restaurant, is offering a menu that riffs on the names of the candidates. Mom-Aswamy’s Spaghetti features a smashed vegetarian meatball patty, fried spaghetti, and a marinara croquette, topped with mozzarella cheese. If you order the Day One Dic-Tater, you are presented with a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto orange kielbasa sausage topped with Jack cheese, tater rounds, house-made sauerkraut, and — wait for it — Russian dressing.
As the Des Moines Register notes, most of the whimsically named items are inspired by the Republican candidates in the caucus. But for Democrats who feel left out, Joe Biden is represented by two shakes.
