City’s Best Burger Bargain for a Reopening and Beyond

Chef David Burke will reopen his eponymous flagship David Burke Tavern on Manhattan’s Upper East Side this coming Tuesday, Apr. 27, with a big burger bargain bang! (Try saying that ten times.)

To celebrate the reopening, his signature Tavern Cheeseburger will sell for $7 from 4 p.m. through closing that night and every Tuesday afterward. That’s a fraction of what you can expect to pay for a comparably made burger virtually anywhere in the city.

The burger patty is sandwiched between halves of a toasted English muffin along with plenty of molten Vermont cheddar and mounded high with mayo, lettuce, onion, and tomato.

The chef has nicknamed the weekly event “777 Burger Night.” The “777” is an embrace of the lucky number seven and a nod to the year 2021 (3 × 7 = 21!), which Burke, like everyone else, is counting on to be better than 2020. Mirroring the sevens theme, vegetable tacos, sides, beer, and wine will also cost $7 all night long.
