How much do you love garlic? If your answer is “totally,” then circle the weekend of Sept. 28 and 29 on your calendar. On those dates, the annual Hudson Valley Garlic Festival will be returning to Saugerties, N.Y., a couple hours north of the city.
Attendees will have a chance to sample the contentious bulb in its many guises, from roasted whole cloves (roasting brings out garlic’s natural sweetness) to — are you ready for it? — garlic ice cream. There will be cooking demos and lectures on what garlic devotees lovingly refer to as the “stinking rose,” as well as face painting and storytelling for the kiddies.
Tickets, which may be purchased here, are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors. Children under 12 are free.
