When you contemplate the act of stopping by the supermarket on your way home from work, it is usually to pick up a loaf of bread and a half gallon of milk — not drop a couple hundred dollars on a platter of caviar with buckwheat blinis and yuzu crème fraîche. Yet, it is precisely such high-end treats and others like it that await you starting today at Next Door, the much-anticipated sushi bar and restaurant appended to Wegman’s Astor Place store.

A number of menu items are Japanese fusion, among them a roasted lobster with ginger tarragon butter and lime dashi ($72) and a 12-ounce koji marinated grass-fed rib eye ($59), the latter brought up to temperature on a robata grill.

Next Door, 770 Broadway (entrance at 8th and Lafayette Sts.), New York, 646-225-9255.

Grand Army Bar Turns 10

Popular Boerum Hill bar Grand Army will celebrate its 10th anniversary this coming Sunday, May 4, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. with an indoor/outdoor block party (rain or shine).

The day will feature:

  • six signature cocktails from Grand Army’s past beverage directors and current head bartender Patty Dennison;
  • flash tattoos by Victoria Accardi (aka @sacredxprofane);
  • limited edition 10-year anniversary to-go cups and koozies, included with purchase of a beverage;
  • major deals on merch: short- and long-sleeve tees, beanies, and more.

**Kindly note that due to bandwidth on this busy day, the new MTA-themed spring/summer cocktail menu being unveiled this week will not be available during the block party.
