First the details in re the giveaway. Beginning next Thursday, May 31, and running through Sunday, June 3, ice cream maker Halo Top will be giving away full-size samples of its newest soft-serve flavor, Peaches & Cream. Head on over to Supermoon Bakehouse on the Lower East Side to receive either a cup or one of the bakery’s signature cruffins with the ice cream piped onto it.
So what is the catch? There are two actually. First, you have to be among the first 150 people to show up for the promotion to qualify for a free scoop. Second, you have to be willing to have ice cream for breakfast. The shop opens at 8 a.m.
Before you pooh-pooh that idea, be advised that Yoshihiko Koga, a researcher at Tokyo’s Kyorin University, conducted experiments in late 2016 on foods people ate upon waking up. He determined that subjects who ate ice cream for breakfast were more alert and performed better mentally throughout the day.
But I digress. In addition to the new flavor, the ice creamery will also be featuring samples of its peanut butter and vanilla bean soft-serve.
