Summer is back, and so are movies in the park. Time to grab your friends and a blanket, and head to the green space nearest you. There are actually more than you may think, and all are free. Space is at a premium, so come early to claim your spot.
What sets Brooklyn’s summer film series apart from others around town is the offer of free popcorn at its five showings for RSVP holders — first-come, first-served, while supplies last.
There five venues in all: McCarren Park, Prospect Park, Coney Island Beach, and Fort Greene Park. Weekly showings, courtesy of Paramount+ Movie Nights, take place on Wednesday during June and July.
The lineup includes recent releases, such as “IF,” which narrates the adventures of a child who can see everyone’s imaginary friends, and the classic “Raiders of the Lost Arc.” “IF” debuts tonight, July 11.

To celebrate this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris, a sports-themed film festival called Films on the Green is taking over several of the city’s parks, showcasing a mix of classic and contemporary French films with English subtitles. The 11 films will be curated under the heading “Sports in Film” and aim to celebrate human achievement, cinema, and the outdoors.
