Anita La Mamma del Gelato, which currently has 19 stores worldwide, is soon to have a twentieth in Times Square, increasing the number of New York City locations to three.
The family-owned gelateria is celebrated for its boutique ice creams, all hand-made in house, as well as frozen yogurt and sorbet, which are available in 150 rotating flavors. Anita’s has developed a loyal following, thanks largely to the intense creaminess of her product, and it’s not uncommon when visiting one of these shops to find the line snaking around the block.
The Times Square location will offer 36 selections of frozen treats, all made in-house.
100 Pounds of Drugs Seized at Bronx Pizzeria
If you’re thinking about stopping in for a slice at Mexzzarella Pizza in the Soundview section of the Bronx, you may want to check in ten to twenty years. Last week police busted a sophisticated drug trafficking ring operating out of the store, which is situated across the street from an elementary school.
WABC reports that Gaudencio Rosendo Perez, Zulema Cardenas Espinoza, and Alexander Samboy were taken into custody after police observed suspicious behavior, such as one of the men carrying a heavy shopping bag into the pizzeria. Upon conducting a search of the premises, authorities turned up more than 100 pounds of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, and oxycodone with an estimated street value of $4 million.
