Kinjo, the 14-seat omakase counter and cocktail lounge housed in a former torpedo factory in Dumbo, is serving lunch this weekend (6/21-6/22) and next (6/28-6/29). The menu is inspired by ichiju sansai, which translates to “one soup and three dishes,” and is the cornerstone of a Japanese nutritional policy that emphasizes the health benefits of a balanced, home-cooked meal packed with delicious ingredients.
For this casual pop-up series taking place in the lounge each Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the menu features five options:
- Bluefin Tuna Donburi: takuan, kizami seaweed, katsuo furikake – $27
- King Salmon Donburi: Alaskan salmon, ikura, chives, arare – $28
- Morel Yaki Soba: edamame, morel mushrooms, cabbage (vg) – $18
- Beef Kare Raisu: short rib curry with carrots, potato, peas – $22
- Vegetable Kare Raisu: curry of pattypan squash, carrots, potato, peas (vg) – $18
Each set is served over rice and accompanied by miso soup, kimchi, and Chef Johnny Huang’s housemade pickles.
Lunch cocktails such as a Yuzu Mimosa and Miso Espresso Martini will also be available.
Guests can feel free to walk in or make a reservation for 6/21, 6/22, 6/28 or 6/29 on Kinjo’s Resy page. Children of all ages are welcome.
Kinjo means “neighborhood.”
