Devoción Coffee, the New York City-based Colombian brand that has been serving the country’s freshest joe since 2014, will open its new 2,500 sq. ft. flagship in Williamsburg on Nov 5. The new store will be located at 148 Grand Street, just two blocks from its current space and will offer the same über-fresh coffee Devociớn is known for: Devoción coffee is taken from origin-to-cup in as little as 10 days, compared with the industry norm, which can require 6 to 12 months.
The new store will retain the signature Devoción aesthetic, which is rooted in symbols of Colombia’s coffee-growing culture. However, there will be a new element in the guise of the Lab just beyond the entrance that will offer classes and instructional series including an ongoing free educational series exploring different methods of coffee preparation.
Conceived as a stage for coffee education, the Lab will serve as a space for a range of specially curated free events, such as the tasting of rare coffee flights. Says Devoción founder Steven Sutton, “We’ve always believed coffee is more than simply a beverage, it’s an experience. And at the new flagship, we are creating an environment that maximizes the enjoyment of that experience.”
In addition to its coffees, Devoción will also continue to feature its signature Sparkling Cascara on tap and Aromaticas (herbal tea and fruit infusions). Colombian-inspired baked goods, like guava croissants, pancito de chocolate, and dulce de leche kouign amann, will also be available.
The opening of the new café, on Tuesday, Nov. 5th, will be marked by a number of activities and giveaways. The new Devocion flagship will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
