They call it the Birthday Cake McFlurry. The 680-calorie treat blends creamy vanilla soft serve and with frosted cake-flavored confetti cookie dough pieces and birthday cake-flavored syrup. The birthday theme is appropriate since the release of this variation on the McFlurry marks the dessert’s 30th anniversary.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to journey far if you’d like to sample the Birthday Cake McFlurry because — at least for now — it is available only at McDonald’s restaurants in Canada. It’s not the first time that a new flavor of the popular treat was sold in Canada but not in the States. In fact the recipe for the original McFlurry was developed by a Canadian McDonald’s franchisee named Ron McLellan in 1995.

If it’s any consolation, McDonald’s has a history of bringing Canadian menu items south to the U.S., so McFlurry fans may get to try the Birthday Cake McFlurry yet.
