Ficuzza, the latest oeuvre from Realmuto Hospitality Group, is bringing a taste of Sicily to the West Village with the launch of its aperitivo hour, inspired by the lively tradition found in trattorias throughout the island.
Every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., guests can unwind at the bar with complimentary authentic Sicilian bites and discounted drinks — Sicilian wines by the glass and cocktails are $10, beers are $8. Featured edibles include cuddiruni bianco (“white” focaccia with onions, anchovies, Pecorino, oregano, and breadcrumbs), cuddiruni rosso (“red” focaccia with tomato sauce, onions, anchovies, oregano, and Pecorino), and eggplant caponata.
Ficuzza is the name of the town in western Sicily where Francesco Realmuto grew up.
