America has been described as a nation of immigrants. Underscoring that point, the group I Stand With Immigrants will celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month this month with a Food That Made Us Tour. Dishes prepared by some of the nation’s most notable cooks — Joanne Chang, Tom Colicchio, Byron Gomez, Christine Ha, and Hawa Hassan — will be available to sample, along with stories of the people and cultures behind each dish. The first leg of the tour, which will embrace four major cities, will be in New York today (June 3) and tomorrow (June 4) at Albee Square Plaza in Brooklyn. Register for the event here.

How would you like your burger? That question will be asked and answered multiple times this coming Sunday, June 5, when Smorgasburg, the largest weekly open-air food market in America, kicks off its first-ever Smorgasburger event. The shindig, which will be held in Prospect Park, will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Numerous variations on the burger theme, including Palenque’s burger-stuffed arepa and Tojo Kitchen’s Wagyu patty on an ube bun, will be on hand. Prices will vary.
