Let’s face the hard cold facts. There is an age where you’re too old to go from door to door asking for candy. If you have to ask what that age is, you’ve probably reached it.
Which doesn’t mean adults in New York don’t get to have any fun. Here are a few witching-hour options that capture the true spirit of Halloween.
Are you a fan of ghost stories? Then an evening aboard one of Madame Morbid‘s trolleys may have your number. Visit the home where a séance went horribly wrong in 1864 and the location of a theater fire that caused 300 people to melt together. Meet the headless ghost who roams the Brooklyn Bridge.
Tours begin at 7 p.m. and 9. p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, and 4 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets, which may be purchased here, are $69 per person.

Would you rather take to the water than to wheels Halloween night? If so, Night of the Rocking Dead might be more your speed. Join “the Grande Mariner” as the ultimate haunted harbor party gets underway. Cruise up and down the Hudson to the sounds of a zombie rock band and dance to spooky remixes and party classics.
Boarding is at 7 p.m. at Pier 36, Lower Manhattan. Sail Time is 8 p.m. till 11 p.m.
Tickets, which may be purchased here, range from $45 per person for group deals and $85 for access to the VIP Undead Lounge.

Newly opened this year and notable on social media as the “Giraffe Bar,” Obvio will be hosting its first-ever Halloween party on Friday, October 31, from 10 p.m. until late. Guests can expect an electrifying DJ lineup and a spooky specialty cocktail (details to follow) created exclusively for the occasion by award-winning beverage director Amy Racine.
