If you’re thinking about dropping by for a bite at the new Lucky Chance Diner on Wythe Avenue in Brooklyn, there are several things you should know. First, the diner will be in existence for only three days, Sept. 8 through 10, and it is already booked solid for all three dates, though an event page states that walk-ins are welcome. Second, there will be no food beyond complimentary beverages and light refreshments served in the outdoor courtyard.
So what is the diner selling? Perfume — more specifically Chance Eau Fraîche, a new release by Chanel, which has opened a new fragrance and beauty boutique a few short blocks from the diner.
Those seated in the booths will be presented with an interactive, 30-minute “experience” geared toward isolating the Chance scent that suits them best. They will then head to the back of the diner where a vending machine will tantalize them with a chance to win customizable gifts.
If any reader can explain how any of this is anything, I’d be grateful to know.
