It’s one of those tree-falls-in-the-forest questions, but here goes: If you concoct a dish in which two fried chicken fillets stand in for the bread, can you call it a sandwich?

Fast food chain KFC did — and they are doing it again for a limited time with the reprise of the Double Down, a bun-less creation that also features two slices of cheese, two strips of hickory-smoked bacon, and mayo or spicy sauce. The sandwich, which was first introduced in 2010 and then again briefly in 2014, is slated to go on sale for a four-week run beginning this coming Monday, March 6.

As unhealthy foods go, this one is up there, weighing in at 560 calories, 26.5 grams of fat, and 1,660 milligrams of sodium. It still pales in comparison with the all-time record holder, McDonald’s triple-decker “Land, Air & Sea,” which provided 1330 calories, 69 grams of fat, and 123 grams of carbohydrates.
