Time flies when you’re having fun. And if you had fun at least year’s Pig Island Porkapalooza Island Porkapalooza, you’ll want to reserve your place for this year’s rendition, which will be held Sept. 8. In fact, if you bought tickets for last year’s extravaganza, you qualify for special holiday early bird tickets for the upcoming event.
The list of participants will include some holdovers from last year, including Pitmaster Roxanne Spruance (Kingsley NYC – Zagats 2017 Best New American Restaurant) and Michael Jenkins (Butter), and and Charcuterie Master Rodrigo Duarte (Casiero e Bom — last year’s Best in Show for Traditional Pork). But expect to sample the wares of Pitmaster Tyson Ho, one of Tasting Table’s “Next Generation of Top Pitmasters” as well.
In addition to the mountains of smoky, porky goodness, this year’s Pig Island will feature an artisan spirits tent curated by Modern Distillery Age showcasing craft spirits from High West, Catskill Provisions, NY Distilling, and Port Morris Distillery. Knife maker Wüsthof will return to provide a butchering demo for serious porkaholics.
Pig Island will be held at Erie Basin Park in Red Hook, Brooklyn, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tickets, which may be purchased here run from $65 (for the aforementioned early bird) to $1,000 for a VIP table of six.
