
If you haven’t yet left town for the holiday, or are just looking for some friendly local spots to raise a toast to the Stars N’ Stripes, here are a few possibilities.
Celestine, located directly on the East River in Dumbo (1 John Street, Brooklyn, is holding an open-bar cocktail party with prime viewing of the Macy’s (main) fireworks and Brooklyn Bridge fireworks (where the bridge’s steel skeletal silhouette becomes an impressive backdrop for the colorful display of the rockets bursting in air).
From 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., guests will enjoy a standing room event featuring festive cocktails, a selection of passed and stationed bites appropriate for the holiday. Tickets available on Resy.
Bandits Burger & Dive (44 Bedford Street) will be opening early on the 4th (at 2 p.m.) to hold a cookout from 2 to 6 p.m. The menu will include hot dogs, a Jungle Juice cocktail, and a day-long happy hour. The restaurant will also have $2 hot dogs and $4 Italian sausages.
Finally, Cora, in the West Village ( e closed on the 4th, but reopening July 5th and officially launching their “Cora Tower” for the month of July, because nothing says July like hot dogs.
The tower ($98) feeds 4 or 6 people and features:
- 6 half Cora Dogs on a house-made brioche bun, topped with caramelized onion mayo, onion mustard, and sour cream & onion potato strings;
- Trout Roe Dip with fresh-fried chips;
- Pickled Deviled Eggs.
