New Yorkers are no stranger when it comes to living large — provided they have the resources. This observation is about to be tested when a branch of the Los Angeles-based high-end organic grocer Erewhon Market opens a private club in the West Village.

The chain, which has 11 stores in Los Angeles, is known for such high-end items as $19 single strawberries, $32 ice cubes, and $23 smoothies.

According to the New York Post, “Members will have to pay a $36,000 initiation fee on top of $7,000 in annual dues to become a part of the club,” meaning they can expect to shell out $43,000 just to get through the door.
